「まさかこんなことを面接で聞くわけにはいかんだろう」という人事部長のコメントに、日本人はつい「それもそうですね」と同意しがちだ。
英語圏の人間に対しては「もしそれ以外に方法がないならそうするしかないだろう。それを知るのがあなたの仕事なのだから。」と反論できる。
相手を傷つきやすい弱い人間と考えて、議論の手加減を加えるのは、英語圏では、かえって失礼に当たる。

A１: male chauvinist は、女性の上司を望まない。「それはない！女性は感情的で、冷静に論理的な判断を下すのが苦手だ。管理職に向かない」と言う人は、自分がmale-chauvinist だと言っている。

A２: 就職する女性の多くは、結婚までのアルバイトか、会社は夫を見つける場か、社会勉強の場にしか考えていない。激しい出世競争を勝ち抜く気迫がない、という見方もある。

A３: 就職を、結婚までの腰掛け、と考える女性がキャリア・ウーマンの志願者の機会をつぶしている。企業側も、花嫁修行を望む志願者がいることは知っている。それなのに、後者の受け皿を造らないのは、やはり企業側の責任と言える。
